Enka Teknik to install 500MW power plant in Iraq

Iraq signed a US$235mn deal with a subsidiary of Turkey's Enka Insaat to install a 500MW power plant in southern Iraq.

125MW capacity gas units

Enka Teknik will install four gas units, each with a production capacity of 125MW in the Al-Najibiya district in Basra, Karim Aftan, Iraq's minister of electricity was reported by Reuters as saying.

Financed by Basra

The project will by financed by the local government of Basra and it will be allocated to Basra province only. The units, which were purchased from General Electric, would be installed in 16 months.
