The Partnerships Technical Bureau (PTB), Kuwait's government committee, signed off the feasibility study for a new metro rail system.

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) said it has awarded a 13-year maintenance contract for the Al Sufouh tram project in Dubai to a consortium comprising Alstom Co and Cofely-Besix Co.

DP World posted a record year for container handling, with over 54.7mn TEU handled in 2011, an increase of 10 per cent over 2010.

Dubai International and the new Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International handled 2.3mn tons of cargo in 2011 which was an  increase on the previous year.
